This interesting paternoster is made of 6mm chevron amethyst beads strung on platinum-quality .019" flexwire, spaced with sparkling hex-cut silver Delica seed beads, and terminated on each end with elegant matching silver-tone pewter crosses.
Now, I had never heard of this lovely stone called 'Chevron Amethyst', so I did a little internet research. I discovered that most Chevron Amethyst comes from Canada. Amethyst is really a purple quartz - the most expensive form of quartz - and the strong color zonation of Chevron Amethyst and Port Arthur Amethyst (which is the same stone but cut in a different direction), is probably produced by numerous twinned crystals and twinning planes within the crystal.
This lovely combination of purple and white is a wonderful representation of our adoption as children of God. God, our heavenly father, is the ultimate King, which makes us princes/princesses of the kingdom of heaven. Purple is representative of royalty in the scriptures because purple dye was expensive and rare. White, meanwhile, is the color for purity. As children of God, we are expected to live holy lives, and purify ourselves from sin that would taint us.
